READ's volunteer tutors are trained in the Barton System of Reading and Spelling to help students achieve grade-level reading proficiency. This scripted tutoring program is successful and starting students at the beginning to help them pick up the reading skills they missed, in order to make improvements. Tutors meet with their students twice per week for an hour each meeting at READ's Family Literacy Center, or another public location convenient to the tutor and family.
