Impact of Position: You will be one of the first faces people see when they visit Sloan Museum of Discovery which means you will help set the tone so that guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience of the museum.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Scan tickets as guests enter the exhibit space
- Ensure that all guests have a ticket for the museum
- Kindly remind guests that no food or drink is allow in the exhibit spaces
- Answers general questions or point guests towards Guest Services for answers
This position is for you if:
- You consider yourself to be a “People-Person”
- You are comfortable talking with new people
You will succeed in this position if:
- You have knowledge on basic Sloan Museum/Flint history and current exhibits
Time Commitment: minimum of 3-4 hours once a week while the museum is open to the public
Orientation and Training: You will be taught how to scan tickets and be given updated information about new exhibits. No computer program skills or certain physical abilities are needed for this position.
Outside of specific department position training, all volunteers must complete a Sloan Museum of Discovery and Longway Planetarium volunteer orientation session that will provide building familiarization tours and an overview of volunteer-related policies and procedures. Volunteers will be asked to submit a criminal background check. Volunteers who do not agree to the background check will be refused assignment.
