Response Team Volunteers
Thank you for being so interested in volunteering at SafeHouse Center! We have a rich history of providing exemplary services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and are at the forefront of efforts to create a violence-free society. We invite you to join us in this work. All gender identities are welcome to apply for all volunteer positions.
Response Team Volunteers respond from your home during the night, to provide immediate crisis intervention to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Volunteers meet with survivors in the hospital and jail to offer support, information and advocacy immediately following incidents of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as respond by phone when necessary.
A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required for this program. On-call shifts are 5pm-8am Monday to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday, Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday. Required to sign up for 3 shifts a month.
Note: Due to insurance requirements and fast response time, Response Team Volunteers must be at least 21, provide car insurance, pass a motor vehicle background and live 1 hour from Ann Arbor.
SafeHouse Center's training includes attending ALL DATES of our core training and specialized training, all dates are mandatory for anyone who wants to be a part of the volunteer team.
