The TCC Lobbies and Grounds Enhancement Project will engage volunteers in projects that enhance the mental and behavioral health services provided by TCC while creating welcoming, healing-centered spaces for children and families. By improving both the interior and exterior of TCC’s campus, volunteers will help create environments that reduce stress, promote safety and belonging, and support the social determinants of health that influence children's well-being. The three areas of volunteer engagement include outdoor beautification, child-friendly lobby enhancements, and a community rock garden refresh. 1. Outdoor Beautification Volunteers will improve TCC’s outdoor spaces through weeding, trimming, seasonal cleanup, debris removal, and general grounds maintenance to create safe, clean, and welcoming environments for children and families. A well-maintained campus contributes to mental and emotional well-being and supports the care being provided by TCC clinicians. 2. Child-Friendly Lobby Enhancements Volunteers will transform the child areas in TCC’s two lobbies into welcoming, engaging spaces designed to reduce stress and anxiety, engage children as they wait, and create a positive first impression for children and families. Enhancements will include assembling and installing child-sized colorful tables and chairs, themed bookshelves stocked with children's books, wall-mounted animal-themed sensory/busy boards, and fresh, bright paint and décor. These improvements will encourage play, learning, and comfort while supporting TCC’s trauma-informed approach from the moment families enter our buildings. 3. Painted Rock Garden Refresh TCC will host designated open sessions where children, families, and adult clients can paint and add a personalized rock to the existing rock garden. This simple, accessible activity provides clients with an opportunity to volunteer, contribute to the campus, and leave a lasting mark on a shared community space. The refreshed rock garden will promote creativity, belonging, and pride while creating a colorful reminder of the caring community that surrounds TCC clients. Together, these volunteer projects will create more welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces that reduce barriers to wellness, strengthen trust between families and TCC, and enhance the effectiveness of the organization's mental and behavioral health services for the community.
