The Clubhouse for the Common Good provides a Clubhouse-designed setting based on the standards outlined by Clubhouse International. It was designed by and for individuals with a mental health diagnosis who seek a welcoming and engaging community atmosphere where they can enjoy social and cultural activities, educational classes, culinary experiences, vocational support, and volunteer opportunities.
About This Volunteer Opportunity
As a volunteer Wellness Facilitator, you will draw on your knowledge, experience, and training to collaborate with Gesher staff and Clubhouse members to present a series of interactive sessions in one or more of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, including emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and/or spiritual wellness.
What we ask of you in this role:
• Collaborate with Gesher staff and Clubhouse members to identify wellness topics of interest and/or need, and a tutoring schedule.
• Foster an environment that adapts to members’ needs and makes them feel comfortable and able to learn.
• Plan, prepare and facilitate sessions that support the members’ wellness goals, needs, and interests.
• Communicate on a regular basis with the Clubhouse director any successes, challenges, and/or needs.
• Keep records of the member’s progress, outcomes, and/or needs.
• Uphold Clubhouse International standards.
• Act as a positive role model for members, staff, and fellow volunteers, embodying Gesher’s mission and core values
You might be a good fit for this role if you:
• Are 18 and older.
• Have a solid background in one or more of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness.
• Have previous tutoring and/or teaching experience.
• Are able to respond with kindness and understanding of members’ individual needs.
• Can commit to sharing 18 to 24 hours over three months.
