Who We Are

Mission: To culturally expose at-risk youth to a life beyond their neighborhoods and transform their thinking from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset by emphasizing health, economic stability, and financial literacy as true wealth.

S.O.L.O (Saving Our Lost Ones) is a nonprofit, community-building organization based in Detroit, Michigan. Since its founding over 14 years ago, S.O.L.O has served as an educational hub for youth and young adults in the metro-Detroit area. Rooted in the belief that any space can become a classroom, S.O.L.O influences community growth through specialized programming, targeted projects, and impactful seminars. The organization is dedicated to rebuilding strong communities and empowering the mindsets of Detroit’s youth, providing them with the tools and support needed to overcome challenges and build a culture of success.

What We Do

S.O.L.O offers a wide range of programs and activities designed to empower Detroit’s youth and young adults:

  • Community Programming: Projects and seminars focused on health, activism, financial literacy, and personal growth to foster a mindset of positivity and success.
  • The Solo Bus Project (“Classroom 212”): A mobile classroom initiative bringing education and resources directly to underserved communities, demonstrating that learning can happen anywhere.
  • Youth Empowerment: Programs designed to inspire ambition, tenacity, and freedom through verbal and written messages, cultivating leadership and personal development.

S.O.L.O is committed to improving the lives of Detroit’s youth and building a stronger, more resilient community. Through partnerships, volunteer efforts, and donor support, the organization creates pathways for positive change and lasting impact.
