Who We Are

Mission: To support individuals with learning disabilities, including dyslexia, in achieving lifelong language skills through our multi-sensory tutoring program; assist educators in supporting students with learning disabilities; and help increase community awareness and understanding of literacy issues.

SLD Reads is a nonprofit organization in Michigan dedicated to helping children and adults with learning disabilities, particularly dyslexia, improve their literacy skills. Through individualized tutoring programs, SLD Reads provides tailored support to those struggling with reading, writing, and comprehension. The organization works closely with schools, families, and communities to empower individuals to reach their full academic and personal potential. By focusing on evidence-based strategies and one-on-one support, SLD Reads aims to overcome the barriers posed by learning disabilities, fostering confidence and academic success for students of all ages.

What We Do

Services and programs of SLD Reads include: 

  • One-on-one tutoring for children and adults with learning disabilities, focusing on reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Professional development and training for educators on how to support students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities.
  • Family education and resources to help parents and caregivers support literacy development at home.
  • School partnerships to provide in-school tutoring and support services for students with learning challenges.
  • Community outreach programs that promote awareness and understanding of learning disabilities and literacy issues
