Who We Are

Mission: To provide leadership, services, and support to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula by addressing their needs, promoting self-sufficiency, and encouraging regional development through collaborative efforts.

Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The organization focuses on promoting social, economic, and community development by providing services that address the needs of vulnerable populations, such as seniors, low-income families, and individuals with disabilities. UPCAP works in partnership with local agencies and community members to improve access to resources, advocate for regional development, and foster sustainable improvements across the Upper Peninsula.

What We Do

UPCAP offers a wide range of services designed to improve the well-being of Upper Peninsula residents. These services include aging services such as home-delivered meals, transportation assistance, and caregiver support for seniors. UPCAP also administers community programs that focus on economic assistance, including energy assistance, housing programs, and emergency financial aid for individuals facing hardship. The organization runs outreach programs for low-income families, helping them access resources such as food, healthcare, and utilities. In addition, UPCAP provides planning and consulting for regional development initiatives, working with local governments and organizations to support economic growth and community resilience in the Upper Peninsula.
