Who We Are

Mission: To promote health, independence, and choice for seniors, persons with disabilities, and caregivers.

CareWell Services Southwest is the Region 3B Area Agency on Aging serving Barry and Calhoun counties. The Older Americans Act of 1965 created agencies like ours at the federal, state, and local level to administer programs that help older adults maintain their health and independence in their homes and communities. CareWell Services Southwest was designated as an area agency on aging by the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging in 1996. As a nonprofit, our mission is to promote health independence and choice for seniors, persons with disabilities and caregivers. The agency is also a contracted MI Choice Waiver agent through the Michigan Department of Community Health providing support and services for adults with disability and frail seniors at risk of nursing home placement.

What We Do

We are tasked by the state of Michigan to advocate for older adults and their caregivers, and to administer funds supporting services for seniors in Barry and Calhoun Counties. Our mission is to identify the needs of seniors and provide person-centered services that promote independence, dignity, and choice. We offer programs for Health (hearing, vision, disease management, caregiver support, senior nutrition), Independence (Medicaid/Medicare assistance, home safety, aging programs), and Choice (care management, waiver programs, veterans’ services). Additional services, like legal aid and adult day programs, are available through our partners.
