Make a difference for a grieving child! Be an Ele’s Place Volunteer.
Ele’s Place is in need of volunteers to become Facilitators with the children’s bereavement support groups. Candidates must complete our entire training program to learn more about Ele’s Place, children’s grief issues, and the role of the facilitator. Facilitators work on teams of three to four volunteers, and coordinate the activities and discussion topics for an age-based group of grieving children or teens.
To be considered as a Facilitator:
- You must be able to complete ALL portions of our training.
- You must be able to make the commitment of volunteering one evening per week (M, T, W or Th) from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m., for a minimum 9-12 months, and hopefully beyond. The commitment does not include the summer months. Your involvement with any summer program is voluntary. We can also work around vacations. This lengthy time commitment is to ensure consistency and trust for the children.
Our facilitator training consists of the following components, and all components must be completed in order to be placed as a volunteer facilitator:
- Completing our online learning modules (approximately 4.5 hours of independent study)
- Attending two, three-hour Zoom sessions in their entirety. These are held during the week in the evenings, generally from 6pm-9pm on a Tuesday and Thursday, two times throughout the year.
- Attending all of an in-person training at Ele’s Place from 9am-5pm. This is generally held on a Saturday.
- Please contact Ele's Place for the dates of our next training: Phone - 517-482-1315; email - abehnke@elesplace.org
