AmeriCorps is a national service program designed to strengthen citizenship and the ethic of service by engaging thousands of Americans on a full-time or part-time basis to help communities address their toughest challenges. To support the placement of AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in communities, the AmeriCorps agency administers grants at the federal level and works in partnership with states to develop service programs and create a community-based national service network.

The Michigan Community Service Commission can help connect you with programs across Michigan. AmeriCorps members typically commit to a term of service and may be eligible to receive a living stipend and an education or cash award at the conclusion of their service. AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers are eligible for a living stipend.
