Volunteer: Special Olympics Michigan AmeriCorps

Special Olympics Michigan AmeriCorps is a health-focused AmeriCorps program with multiple service sites throughout the state of Michigan. Members lead various health initiatives to address health disparities for people with intellectual disabilities and the community as a whole. Some member duties include leading health and fitness programming, planning family engagement health events, planning and leading developmental sports practices, expanding the reach of the Special Olympics Michigan Unified Champion Schools initiatives, working with local school systems to provide support and programming, engaging volunteers, spreading awareness of key mental health information, and participating in team meetings and service projects. Members are encouraged to take on leadership roles within the team. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for interviews and for service assignments upon request.
