Mission: To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Michigan is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. By offering inclusive, accessible sports programs, Special Olympics Michigan empowers athletes to develop physical fitness, experience personal achievement, and build confidence. The organization fosters a sense of community and inclusion, promoting respect and acceptance for individuals with disabilities, and encourages participation in a variety of sports and activities across the state.
What We Do
Services of Special Olympics- Michigan invlude:
- Year-round sports training and competition in various athletic disciplines
- Health programs including screenings and wellness initiatives for athletes
- Unified Sports programs that promote inclusion by pairing athletes with and without intellectual disabilities
- Leadership development and volunteer opportunities for the community
- Community awareness campaigns to promote respect, inclusion, and acceptance of individuals with intellectual disabilities
