

Who We Are
Mission: To support refugees in their journey to become fully participating members of the West Michigan community.
The Refugee Education Center (REC) in Kentwood, Michigan, empowers refugees and immigrants through education, support, and resources to help them integrate into their community. REC focuses on improving language skills, education, and employment opportunities, fostering self-sufficiency. By collaborating with community partners and volunteers, REC creates a more inclusive and supportive environment for refugees and immigrants.
What We Do
Services and programs of the Refugee and Education Center:
- ESL classes to improve language skills.
- Job readiness programs, including resume help and job placement.
- Cultural orientation for adjusting to U.S. life.
- After-school tutoring for refugee and immigrant children.
- Legal assistance for immigration and resettlement.
- Social services like housing, healthcare, and benefits support.
- Community engagement to foster cross-cultural understanding.
